Breve Resumen Profesional:

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Ahnya graduated from Union College in Schenectady, NY and headed off to serve in the Peace Corps in Honduras as a Health Extentionist shortly thereafter. Her main focus was working with local health workers to lower infant and maternal mortality rates. She also focused on educating youth groups about the facts of HIV/AIDS. After finishing her service in the Peace Corps she traveled to Peru, Bolivia, and Ecuador. After her travels she began working as a Research Assistant at the Adolescent Health Center at Mt. Sinai in New York City on an NIH funded project looking at the effects of drug and alcohol use in reported cases of date rape in black, white, Puerto Rican and Dominican adolescent girls between the ages of 14-24.
