  • Greetings all,

The Impact Alliance made some exciting progress during the month of March. We held an excellent two-day meeting of Impact Alliance Latin America regional partners (see highlight below) followed a few days later by a highly productive three-day meeting of the technical development team for the Local Governance Barometer. The meeting was hosted by IA partner IDASA in Pretoria South Africa and involved 15 participants from SNV, Pact, IDASA and the Municipal Development Partnership. The Local Governance Barometer is a joint innovation of the Alliance that will be piloted in 8 countries on two continents over the next 12 months.

Additionally, the Impact Alliance signed a grant agreement with DFID to implement a regional learning program to strengthen local governance across five LAC countries (see news below). This grant is a significant milestone for the Alliance as it mobilizes the collective competencies of multiple partners and members to provide a regional response capability and learning platform that is increasingly recognized as unique and valuable.

The Impact Alliance thrives on your participation. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Jeff Kwaterski
    Impact Alliance Director

    Latin American Regional Partners Meeting

The Impact Alliance held a LAC regional partners meeting on February 15th-17th in Santa Cruz Bolivia. We had full participation from all active IA partners operating in the LAC region, including representatives from CIRD, Universidad NUR, SNV, Pact, Pact Peru and the Impact Alliance secretariat.

Joining the IA Partners in Santa Cruz were representatives from five leading organizations from around the region that could make excellent additions to the partnership group. These organizations included: NESsT-Chile, IBAM- Brazil, Fundación Compromiso – Argentina, Fundación Esquel – Ecuador, GNTP – Bolivia. In total, 15 people attended the two day event.

The activities that generated the most interest and highest priority were:

    1. Mobilize funds and promote an inter- organizational learning program to strengthen services and methodologies among IA partners and members
    2. Develop a capacity building train-the-trainer (facilitator development program) that would combine skills from IA partners towards strengthening front- line capacity building practitioners
    3. Research and publish an Oganizational Capacity Development approach document and host an annual conference sponsored by the IA partners
