Dilemmas of Leadership is a book written by Tudor Rickards and Murray Clark to guide would-be leaders through an exploration of their understanding of leadership and their own leadership goals and objectives. The authors review some of the most influential ideas about leadership--covering topics on transformational leadership, team leadership, strategy formation and implementation, symbolism, diversity, ethics. This thematic treatment is used to encourage readers to reflect critically on the relationship between theory and practice, and illustrate the contradictions of leadership arising from challenges such as:
- dilemmas of trust and control
- the economic consequences of principled actions
- dependency patterns induced through ‘strong’ leadership
- the dilemma of self-destructive leadership
