Making the Net Work is a joint UK-US initiative. Their aim is to develop 'how to' guidance for those aiming to get their organisation or neighbourhood online, or to create community technology or learning access centres.

Their first project was to develop a toolbox, funded initially by the UK Department of Trade and Industry. This has grown through work they are doing for the Department for Education and Employment as part of the DirectSupport consortium.

The site contains a very useful step-by-step map of the process of establishing a community network, as well as a number of checklists on processes associated with community networking.
