Creating Knowledge Maps by Exploiting Dependent Relationships
Conceptual framework for a hierarchical approach to knowledge mappingThe article uses the concept of dependent relationships to describethe content and form of knowledge maps. Dependent relationships are the component pieces of supporting knowledge and empiricle data that make up a larger unit of knowledge.
The example of boiling an egg is used, where the component knowledge includes how to boil water, where to get eggs, how long it takes for a boiled egg to become hard, etc. These pieces of supporting knowledge can also be ranked according to their importance to the larger knowledge.
