The United Nations Development Programme sponsored, ‘Capacity is Development’ Knowledge Fair, collected experiences on policies, investments and programs that have proven successful in driving human and institutional capacity development in diverse settings around the world.

The top 5 finalists were awarded an expense paid trip to personally showcase their work at the 'Capacity is Develpment' global event in Marrakech, Morocco, 17-19 March, 2010.

Entries took the form of a short two-page case stories, videos and images.

 

Entries aimed to illuminate through words or images the impact of capacity development in practice. Read more about eligibility criteria and how to enter.
 
The UNDP defines capacity development as the process through which individuals, organizations and societies obtain, strengthen and maintain the capabilities to set and achieve their own development objectives over time.

Special interest was given to gathering stories from three priority focal areas:

• Sub-National Capacity Development: Local Solutions, National Strengths
• Capacity Challenges in Post-conflict and Transitional Situations
• Fostering the Rise and Resilience of Middle-Income Countries
