Quito welcomes the International Meeting on Climatic Change in Latin America

More than 1550 representatives of the municipalities, civil society, scientific organisms, national authorities, unions, indigenous etnies, universities, ONG, students participated in Quito (Ecuador) the 17 and 18 of October in the event Latin Climate, organized by Paco Moncayo, the Mayor of Quito and Copresident of CGLU.
The present institutions gave a document to the President of Ecuador, Rafael Strap, so that she is spokesman of the preoccupation of the towns of Latin America in the international forums. The document emphasizes that many Latin American municipal governments already have initiated actions to reduce their ecological track and to improve the preservation of the environment. But they need support to develop projects within the Mechanisms of Clean Development anticipated in the Agreement Frame of the Nations United on Climatic Change.
Also it proposes that the Ministers of Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean Forum establishes a mechanism of permanent consultations with the United Nations and the regional cooperation organisms.
