Accountability
________________________NGO accountability is an issue that has received much attention recently, particularly as NGOs’ sphere of influence – on policy, development priorities, and service delivery - grows. Because of the role that NGOs play in humanitarian and development efforts throughout the world, they must be able to respond to the needs and concerns of a range of stakeholders, including NGO beneficiaries, the donor community, and civil society at large.
The resources in this folder address issues of NGO performance and accountability in international development assistance. They explore arguments for and against the notion that NGOs represent a more effective means for delivering development aid, and provide useful tips and strategies for establishing and maintaining standards for accountability.
