This paper was presented at the Connecting the Future: Global Summit of Online Knowledge Networks in Australia in March 2002.

It is based on the premise thta effective knowledge networks address the needs of organizations to be able to create, share and use tacit, implicit and explicit knowledge.

The article and accomanying case studies focus on building online communities to improve the creation, sharing and use of tacit and implicit knowledge and creating the infrastructure to support effective management and discovery of tacit, implicit and explicit knowledge.
